Falcons Come Back from Two Goals Down To Defeat Flying Fleet

DUE WEST, S.C. – The Aaliyah Jackson-led Pfeiffer (5-7-2, 3-4-1 CC) women's soccer team came back  from a 3-1 deficit to score three straight goals to defeat the Erksine Flying Fleet (1-12, 0-6 CC) 4-3 in Due West on Saturday afternoon in Conference Carolinas play.

After the Fleet's Robin Martin scored the first goal of the game in the 4th minute of play, Pfeiffer's Katlyn Stevens matched her with a score of her own 35 seconds later to tie the score up at one apiece.

Erskine jumped out to a 3-1 lead after goals by Taylor Bush (24th) and Brittany Jankiela (48th).

Pfeiffer was poised to score all day but had numerous near misses.

The Falcons comeback began in the 48th minute as Jackson found her teammate Andrea Garcia streaking up the middle of the field.  Garcia's shot got by the Flying Fleet goalkeeper Ashton Burgess to get the Falcons back to 3-2.

Jackson's day wasn't done as in the 53rd minute she took a long pass over top the Fleet from Miracle Campbell.  Jackson dribbled right by the Flying Fleet defender and Burgess to net her first goal of the game.

The Falcon capped off the come back after an Erskine foul in the 84th minute.  Stevens set up left of the goal for a Falcon free kick as her teammates jockeyed for position as her soft shot went towards the backside where Jackson leaped up and headed the ball in for a 4-3 lead.

Senior Gracie Herbert played her second consecutive game in goal and picked up her first win of her career.  Herbert saved two shots on the day as her record goes to 1-0-1.

In the win, Stevens picks up her third goal and sixth assist on the season.

Jackson's five point day gives her 83 career points, which ranks third in Pfeiffer history. Her 38 career goals leave her just one goal shy of tying the record for most in a career.
