MISENHEIMER, N.C.- The Pfeiffer Falcon (6-7-2, 4-4-1 CC) women's soccer team won their second consecutive game with a shutout of the Emmanuel Lions (2-10, 2-6 CC) 3-0 at NE Lefko Field on Wednesday evening.
At the outset of the game, Pfeiffer came out with intention of putting away Emmanuel early, but the scrappy Lions tested the Falcons for most of the first half.
The Falcons got on the scoreboard in the 35th minute as Stephanie Hardig crossed a ball to her teammate Aaliyah Jackson for her 9th goal of the season.
The Falcons outshot the Lions by the margin of 11-2 but goalkeeper Breanna Grizzle kept Emmanuel close as she tallied four saves in the first half.
In the second half, the Lions stayed close with Falcons until the 71st minute when Andrea Garcia fed the ball to teammate Brae Buster for her sixth goal of the season which put the Falcons up 2-0.
As time was winding down in the game, Jackson got herself into the assist column as she passed the ball over to Hailey Havelind. The junior forward shot it from 10 yards away to get it by Grizzle for a commanding 3-0 lead with five minutes remaining.
Falcon goalkeeper Deidre Gilley moves to 4-6-1 on the season after saving five shots on goal and securing her first shutout of the 2015 season.
Jackson continues to move up the Falcon all-time lists of goals scored and points. With a goal and an assist in the win, Jackson moved to a tie for first all-time with 39 career goals and moves to second with her 86 points.
The Falcons look to continue to improve on their two game winning streak as they travel to King for a Conference Carolinas match at 5 p.m. on Saturday.
