Box Score MISENHEIMER, N.C. – Conference Carolinas announced the 2015 All-Conference team this afternoon in between the two semifinal games today. Matt Michaeli and Eddie Renaud were named to the First Team All-Conference and Mike Triolo,Derek Thomas and Claymore Wade were Second Teamers.
Renaud led the conference in points (67) and was second in goals (38), assists (29), shots on goal (66) and man-up goals (8). Renaud's seven assists against Lees-McRae was the second highest total in a single game and the freshman had four games with at least seven points. Renaud ranks 10th in the nation with 2.71 goals per game and third in the nation with 4.79 points per game. Also, Renaud's 67 points rank fourth in the 31 year history of Pfeiffer lacrosse.
Michaeli joined Renaud on the First Team as his 55 ground balls ranked sixth in the conference. Michaeli recorded at least five ground balls in a game on seven different occasions and had hat tricks in two of his team's first three games. The junior finishes the regular season with 24 points on 16 goals and eight assists and added nine caused turnovers.
A pair of seniors that were first Team All-Conference players a season ago were named to the Second Team this season inMike Triolo and Claymore Wade. Triolo's transition from LSM to attack went seamless as the Toronto native finished eighth in the league with 44 points and fifth with 22 assists. His five man-up goals ranked him sixth and he added 24 ground balls to his school-record total and has 226 for his career.
Wade was stellar again for the Falcons, constantly shutting down opponents top options. Wade ranked inside the top-10 in caused turnovers with 15. In conference play, he caused six turnovers which ranked him eighth in the league. Wade finished with 20 ground balls in his 13 games.
Rounding out the All-Conference was Derek Thomas. Thomas was a threat on both ends of the field as he finished with 20 goals and caused 16 turnovers. The junior added 25 ground balls and had a couple of the most memorable goals of the season. In Pfeiffer's first two games of the season, Thomas scored the winning goal. Against Florida Southern, Thomas scored with 2:57 to play to give Pfeiffer a 16-15 road win. The very next game, Thomas' goal 51 seconds into overtime gave the Falcons an 11-10 win over Mars Hill.
The Falcons will take on Mount Olive tonight at 7 p.m. in the Conference Tournament semifinal. The winner will play on Sunday against the winner of Limestone vs. Belmont Abbey. All games will be played at Saints Field in Gaffney, SC.
