MISENHEIMER, N.C. – After being one goal down, the Pfeiffer (2-5-1, 1-2-1 CC) women's soccer team came back to knock off the Lees-McRae Bobcats (2-5, 1-2 CC) for their first Conference Carolinas win of the season by the score of 5-1 on a soggy and rainy N.E. Lefko Field.
After Cheyenne Warrick scored a goal in the 11th minute for the Bobcats, Pfeiffer got on the scoreboard in the 40th minute to tie the score 1-1 when Andrea Garcia netted an unassisted goal for her third of the season.
As the lights turned on for the second half so did the Falcons scoring.
In the 60th minute, Bobcat defenders concerned themselves with the streaking forward Aaliyah Jackson, but Hailey Havelind was there to take the cross from her teammate to net her first goal of the season.
Twelve minutes later, Stephanie Hardig played a ball wide and crossed it to junior Brae Buster who received the ball at the front of the goal and netting her third goal the year.
Later in the 78th minute, Buster took a long pass from the Falcons midfield and used her speed to get by the Bobcat defense. Buster took a shot that looked to be wide of the goal but reserve Miracle Campell cleaned up the errant shot attempt and netted her first goal of her junior campaign.
The Falcons closed out the evening's scoring barrage as junior Jennifer Baity took a corner in the 83rd minute. Both Falcon and Bobcat players jockeyed for position but the ball found the feet of senior Tori Jackson and the senior defender chipped in a short kick that got by Bobcat goalkeeper Alexis Feeley.
Although Sophomore Deidre Gilley allowed an early goal, the Falcon keeper played another strong game in goal and tallied four saves.
On the evening, the Falcons used five different scorers, three of which scored their first of the season and also outshot the Bobcats 22 to 10.
With Buster's goal on the evening, she now moves up to 11th all-time in Pfeiffer's school history with 18.
The Falcon women return to action on Wednesday at 5 p.m. as they host non-conference opponent Catawba at N.E. Lefko Field.
