MISENHEIMER, NC – The Pfeiffer Falcons (9-4-1, 8-1 CC) women soccer team came back from a 1-0 deficit in the second half to defeat the Converse Valkyries (7-7, 3-5 CC) 2-1 on Wednesday at N. E. Lefko Field. Senior Brae Buster helped in the comeback as the senior scored her fifth of the season.
After a Converse goal in the 57th minute from Nicole Doolittle, Pfeiffer countered with one of their own in the 76th minute as Buster beat the Valkyries goalkeeper Josee Waitrovich, on the low side as Kat Kelley notched her second assist of the season.
Less than five minutes later, Ryanna Hammond played a Falcon corner kick short and charged towards Waitrovich. Hammond unleashed a rocket, but it was deflected off a Converse defender and into the back of the net to give the Falcons a 2-1 advantage. Hammond was officially credited with the game-winner, her eighth goal of the season.
The Falcons controlled the last seven minutes of play for the victory. Freshman goalkeeper Kaley Hyatt won her eighth game of the year as she saved six Converse shots.
