FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA - Led by a pair of goals from senior Hailey Havelind, the Pfeiffer women's soccer team (10-4-1, 9-1 CC) recorded their ninth conference victory of the season with a 2-0 blanking of Emmanuel (1-13-2, 1-6-2). The nine league wins are the highest single season total since the Falcons went 9-2 in 2006 and Pfeiffer has a chance to tie the school record for most conference wins in a season next Saturday as they travel to Belmont Abbey.
Pfeiffer dominated from the outset and held a 30-2 advantage in shots. Today marked the third time on the season that Pfeiffer recorded over 30 shots in a match and they have outscored opponents 13-1 in those three contests.
Havelind notched goals number four and five on the season to lead the Falcons to victory. The California native netted the game winner in the 61st minute to break the scoreless draw. In the 83rd minute, Gabrielle Ligas was credited with the assist on Havelind's second strike of the day as the Falcons cruised to their seventh straight victory.
Havelind recorded eight shots in the match and Ryanna Hammond fired five attempts. Pfeiffer held a 13-2 advantage in shots on goal and took all 16 corner kicks in the match.
Kaley Hyatt was largely untested in net as the freshman made one stop for her third shutout of the year.
The Falcons are within striking distance of a pair of program records. Pfeiffer is just two wins shy of tying the longest unbeaten streak of nine in a row that was most recently accomplished in 2010. Additionally, with a win over the Crusaders on Saturday, Pfeiffer would end the regular season with 10 conference wins which has only been accomplished twice in school history (2005 and 2000).
The Falcons look to continue their win streak with a non-conference match on Wednesday night against Queens. Kickoff is slated for 5 p.m.
