Box Score MISENHEIMER, NC – The Pfeiffer Falcons (11-4-1 ) defeated the Queens Royals (9-6 ) 1-0 on Wednesday at N.E. Lefko Field to extend their win streak to eight games. The Falcons are now within one win of the longest unbeaten streak in school history and have outscored opponents 22-1 in that stretch.
The only score of the night happened in the 75th minute as Ryanna Hammond scored her ninth goal of the year with assists being credited to Kirsten Martin and Aryana Harvey. The sophomore forward placed it past the Royals goalkeeper Rachel Quest high in left corner of the goal. For Hammond, it was her second game winner in three games as she also netted the goal to defeat Converse a week ago.
Earlier in the contest Harvey kicked a rainbow of a shot from 30 yards out that nearly went in, but Quest was there again to poke it over the cross bar for a crucial save.
Falcon goalkeeper Kaley Hyatt won her 10th game of the year as the freshman stopped five shots on the evening.
The win tonight sets up a Conference Carolinas clash on Saturday as Pfeiffer travels to Belmont Abbey. The Falcons will enter the match ranked 10th in the region, while the Crusaders are the 9th ranked team in the Southeast. On top of that, sole possession of second place in the league standings will be on the line as both teams will enter with a 9-1 league record. The Falcons also have a chance to tie the school record for most conference wins in a season with 10 and can even the record for longest unbeaten streak with nine.
