YOUNG HARRIS, GA - After two overtimes on Saturday, the score remained tied at one as the Pfeiffer Falcons (1-1-1) clawed back and earned a draw in their non-conference match up with the Young Harris Mountain Lions (1-0-2). Early in her young Falcon career, freshman goalkeeper Kaley Hyatt set a career high with 13 saves on 29 shots.
In the span of five minutes of regulation play, the game saw it's only two scores.
The Pfeiffer defense looked like they were going escape the first half without being scored upon but just as the clocked hit the 44th minute, the Mountain Lion offense got one by Hyatt. Amber Hill took a pass from Rachel Hill at the top of the box and sent it to the left corner of the net.
In the 48th minute, Marcy Santana tied up the score as she took a throw in from freshman Aryana Harvey and she stood all alone from 35 yards away. With no Mountain Lion defenders on her, the senior decided let it rip as she put it on goal and it squirted through the fingers of Young Harris 'goalkeeper Nicole Medeiros.
Thoughout the second half and the two overtimes, Hyatt saw 18 of the 29 shots against her. She came up big in second overtime when she saw back-to-back shots in the 101st minute, one that hit off the post by Jordyn Brown as it squirted away and rebounded by Laisy Scardazzi who fired it right back, but Hyatt virtually secured the Falcon draw in that sequence.
Pfeiffer returns to play at home on Wednesday as they face UNC Pembroke at 7:00 p.m. at N.E. Lefko Field.
