MISENHEIMER, NC- The Pfeiffer women's soccer team (2-3-1, 1-1 CC) held the lead over Limestone (5-1, 3-0) for the first 83:57 of the match, however, the Saints were able to score two goals in final 6:03 to rally to a 2-1 victory and remain unbeaten in conference play.
Pfeiffer struck first 11 minutes into the game as Brae Buster took a feed from Aryanna Harvey and fired from about 25 yards out over the head of the Limestone keeper into the back of the net. The final 34 minutes of the half was deadlocked. The Saints outshot the Falcons in the first period 8-5. Freshman keeper Kaley Hyatt made a key save at the 13 minute mark and a diving save in the closing seconds to preserve a 1-0 halftime lead for the Falcons.
Pfeiffer held the 1-0 lead for the first 35 minutes of the second half. However, after the tenth corner kick of the second half Limestone got the equalizer with a header by Allie Winglosky finding the back of the net. Two and a half minutes later, the Saints took the lead as Megan O'Conner took a cross from Millie Shaw scoring the go ahead goal with 4:50 left in the match. Pfeiffer's best chance to tie the match came on a shot by Marcy Santana with 2:03 left, however the shot was saved by the Limestone keeper.
Limestone held the advantages in shots 20-8 and a 13-1 in corner kicks. Freshman keeper Kaley Hyatt recorded six saves for the Falcons.
Pfeiffer returns to action on Saturday, September 24, as the Falcons play at Lees-McRae. Kick-off is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
