WINGATE, NC – In their first road match of the season, the Pfeiffer women's socer team (1-1) fell to Wingate (1-1-1) on Wednesday evening in a match that was featured on ESPN3.
Pfeiffer and Wingate spent the first 18 minutes feeling each other out but the Falcons were unable to keep the Bulldogs off their side of the field.
The Bulldogs took control of the game in the 27th minute as Kimmi Moore scored off a cross from in front of the Falcon goal by teammate Taylor Krakower.
Off a corner kick by Caleigh Apicella in the 28th minute, Macy Franklin controlled the loose ball and sent it by Falcon freshman goalkeeper Kaley Hyatt for a 2-0 lead.
The Bulldogs added one more goal in the 67th minute as Taylor Krakower streaked down the left wing and Hyatt came out of the goal box to play the ball from Taylor Leyble but Leyble broke by her for the 3-0 score.
Hyatt ended the evening with three saves as she saw 13 shots.
As a team, the Falcons were outshot in the game 13-4 by Wingate.
The Falcons return to action as they travel to play Young Harris on Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
