Volleyball Closes out 2017 Season With Win on Senior Night

Box Score

MISENHEIMER, N.C. -- The Pfeiffer volleyball team (4-21) celebrated senior night with a 3-0 sweep of Regent on Wednesday afternoon in front of an enthusiast crowd inside Merner Gymnasium. The Falcons close out the regular season with wins in three of their final four home matches.

Prior to the match, Pfeiffer honored its three seniors: Sam Smith, Erin Errington and Katie Anne Wilson. After the ceremony, the Falcons began to pick apart the visiting Royals.

In the opening set, Pfeiffer doubled up Regent by a score of 25-12. In the frame, Pfeiffer hit a scorching .407 and left the Royals without an answer. Lea Hilton contributed four of Pfeiffer's 14 kills in the opening stanza and Wilson dished out seven assists. The combination of Errington and Myasia Jones totaled six kills in the opener.

It was more of the same in set number two, however Regent put up more of a battle. Pfeiffer won the set by a final score of 25-20 after scoring five straight points when the game was tied at 15. Madison Kuehl served the five straight points, including a trio of aces. An attack error from Regent closed the books on the second set and put Pfeiffer one win away from the sweep.

They would complete that sweep with a convincing 25-15 set three victory. Most of the team saw action in the final set as Pfeiffer ran away with the easy victory.

For the night, Errington notched a match-high 11 kills and Smith added eight. Wilson added 17 assists to give her 1,140 for her outstanding career. That total places her fourth in program history and her 84 service aces rank her seventh.

Abby Kaufhold led the team with eight digs and added 10 assists.

As a team, Pfeiffer had 13 service aces, their third highest total of the season.

The win wraps up the 2017 campaign for Pfeiffer with their highest win total since 2013. They will look to build momentum for their second season in Division III in 2018.
