TIGERVILLE, SC - Competing in its final Conference Carolinas Tournament, the Pfeiffer men's lacrosse team (7-9) dropped a 15-9 decision at North Greenville (9-8) on Tuesday afternoon. The Falcons entered as the No. 5 seed but saw its 2017 campaign come to a close at the hands of the No. 4 seeded Crusaders.

North Greenville opened the game with four straight goals before Jared Nelson scored with 23 seconds left in the opening quarter. NGU answered with a goal with three seconds left to take a 5-1 lead into the second quarter.

The Crusaders dominated the second frame, scoring seven unanswered goals to take a commanding 12-1 advantage heading into the break.

The Falcons wouldn't go down without a fight. Kyle Barna scored nine seconds into the second half to start a 4-0 scoring run. Alex Skidmore, Nelson and Ryan Cummings would cut the lead to 12-4 before Hunter Burgett pushed the advantage to 13-4.

In the fourth quarter, Pfeiffer scored three straight goals in a 3:20 span to cut the deficit to 15-9. However, Pfeiffer went scoreless over the final 4:08 to drop a six goal decision.

Barna finished with a pair of goals and concludes the season with 52, which is tied for the fifth highest total in program history.

Cody Lamond tallied four ground balls and finishes his rookie campaign with a school record 127 ground balls.

Goalie Mike Moorehead ends his 2017 season with 223 saves, good for fourth in program history. His 487 career saves places him fifth in Pfeiffer history.

The loss ends the careers of six Pfeiffer seniors. Myles Dalton-Steinhart, Kevin Kerrick, Justin Oberg, Dillon Malloy and Moorehead played in their final collegiate contest.

The rest of the Falcons will join the ranks of Division III and the USA South Athletic Conference in 2018.
