Box Score Pfeiffer Women's Soccer Downs Shenandoah 1-0 in ECAC First Round
Westminster, Md. (Nov. 16, 2019) – The Pfeiffer University women's soccer team scored the only game of the match in the 60th minute to take a 1-0 win over Shenandoah in the first round of the ECAC Division III Tournament on Saturday afternoon.
After battling to a scoreless tie in the first half, Pfeiffer junior defender Meredith Manson (Auburndale, Fla.) took the ball at midfield, dribbled around several defenders on her way to the goal, then slotted a shot past Shenandoah goalkeeper Emilie Smit
The second-seeded Falcons were outshot in the first half by a 7-2 margin, while senior goalkeeper Kaley Hyatt (St.Cloud, Fla.) made two saves to keep the game scoreless. Hyatt also made a pair of saves in the second half to notch the shutout.
The win improves the Falcons to 13-4 on the season while Shenandoah ends their season at 11-9 .
Pfeiffer advances to Sunday's quarterfinals where they will take on host McDaniel in a 12:00 p.m. match. McDaniel advanced to the quarterfinals with a 6-0 win over fourth-seeded Penn State Behrend.
