How it Happened
Pfeiffer struck first in the 20th minute, scoring on just their second shot attempt of the match. The play was set up when junior Dayanna Riera intercepted a pass by a Methodist defender and crossed the ball low to Cayci Eaton in the middle of the box, who then beat Methodist keeper Maggie Hunt to the low left corner
The Falcons made their mark on the second half after just a minute and 15 seconds of play.
The Falcons won possession at midfield and Hunt was unable to come away with the interception on a Jessica Vazquez cross, leading to an open-net goal for Eaton and a 2-0 Pfeiffer lead.
In the 48th minute, Methodist had a good chance regain some momentum when an Aiden Sherry through-ball nearly found a streaking Laura Harris Pfeiffer goalkeeper Madison Riddle raced to the top of the penalty box and cleared the ball away from Harris' reach.
Methodist threatened again in the final minute of the match, this time when a Madison Rizer cross Sherry was deflected by Riddle.
Riddle's rush out and the deflection led to an open-net attempt but Harris' shot hit the left post before the Falcons eventually cleared the ball out of danger.
