Pfeiffer Women's Soccer has Five Named to USA South East Division All-Conference Team
Misenheimer, N.C. (April 5, 2021) – The Pfeiffer University women's soccer team had five players earn USA South East Division Postseason awards the league has announced.
Pfeiffer junior defender Morgan Cecil (St. Cloud, Fla.) earned the USA South East Division First Team honor after helping the Falcons to a 3-2-2 mark over the spring regular season. She helped anchor a Falcon defense that pitched four shutouts on the season while allowing six goals in league contests. She also logged three shots on the season, taken on specialty set pieces.
Senior midfielder Meredith Manson (Auburndale, Fla.) scored three goals on the season earning herself a USA South East Division First Team selection, tallying both scores in a win at Mary Baldwin on March 9 and provided the insurance goal against Meredith on March 23. She logged 31 shots on the season, with 17 being on goal, and helped the Falcon offense generate 12 goals on the season.
Junior forward Dayanna Riera (Bronx, N.Y.) earned USA South East Division First Team honors after scoring three goals on the season. She also logged three assists to finish the regular season as the team points leader (9). Riera scored the game winner in Pfeiffer's 2-0 win over Meredith on March 29. She also had a goal and an assist in Pfeiffer's 3-0 Senior Day win over Averett on March. 27.
Senior defender Patricia Summers (Lenoir, N.C.) earned USA South East Division Second Team honors after serving on the defensive end alongside Cecil. Summers logged a pair of shots in the 2-0 win over Mary Baldwin on special set pieces.
Sophomore defender Haley Turner (Zebulon, N.C.) rounds out the award winners for the Falcons, earning a spot on the USA South Women's Soccer All-Sportsmanship Team. Turner started on defense alongside Cecil and Summers in six of the seven regular season matches for the Falcons
