Pfeiffer Cross Country Starts Season at Elon

Elon, N.C. (Sept. 4, 2021) –
The Pfeiffer University Cross Country teams kicked off the 2022 season by participating in the Elon Friday Night Lights Opener on Friday night Sept. 2, 2022.

The race, an unusual night cross country event, featured a heavy Division I field over the women's 4K and the men's 6K event.

Pfeiffer's Madison Lowery finished as the top non-Division I runner in the event, completing her race in 17th place overall in the field of 66 runners.  Lowery's time was a 14:49.0.

Senior Micah Welborn also fared well, finishing with a 16:48.3, which placed her 40th overall.  Welborn finished ahead of a pair of Division I runners from Elon and UNC Wilmington.

Pfeiffer return to race on Sept. 14 at the CNU Regional Preview at Lee Hall Mansion in Newport News, Va. The Falcons will get experience running on the course that will host the NCAA Regional Meet later in the season.
